The AccountNow Prepaid Mastercard acts as a debit card or ATM card with the alluring benefits of no monthly fees, no overdraft fees and a 100% approval rate could strike anyone as a golden ticket to support and improve a flailing credit score on the premise that consumers believe that they will be avoiding that “buy now, pay later” frenzy and further annual, overdraft, or interest fees imposed.

Being straightforward, this card is basically an expensive debit card: The classical card will impose a $4.95 one-time set up fee. On the other hand, the Gold card does not have a set up fee, but you are expected to pay a $9.95 monthly fee instead. Keep in mind that the Classical card doesn’t have any monthly fees, but you will be charged $1 per transaction. On top of that, there’s a fee every time you load your card.

AccountNow vs AMEX Prepaid:

Now prepaid cards don’t necessarily hold an advantageous perspective for anyone, but if you’re settled on getting a prepaid card, then you’re certainly more off with an American Express Prepaid Card. The AccountNow not only has a one-time signup fee, but an imposing monthly fee and replacement fee as well. But, you must also realize that the American Express Prepaid isn’t free of it’s flaws just yet either. With every deposit, you will be paying a $4.95 fee, waive-able with a credit card or checking account to make the deposits…Which in end, would make your prepaid card even more useless. Now, if you’re having trouble with your credit, then I recommend a secure credit card or even just a regular checking would do just fine.

Conclusion:

The AccountNow Prepaid Mastercard is currently offering a $15 Bonus for when you set up qualifying direct deposit on the account. Again, I reiterate that this is quite the expensive debit card with a start-up fee of $4.95 on top of a $1 fee for every transaction. It’s recommended that you avoid this card and disregard any and all benefits attached.  You are better off with a regular checking account. The only thing I can find appealing about this card is that it’s a MasterCard. If your intentions are to attempt to improve a damaged credit score, I recommend trying out a secure credit card.
