Amex Changes Reward Year In-Depth:
Starting June 30, 2017, an annual reward year will be considered as a calendar year. As for the Old Blue Cash, the Reward Year will begin the day after your Blue Cash account anniversary date. Definitely makes the terminology easier to understand what a Reward Year really constitute as.
We’re assuming it means that everyone with a Blue Cash Everyday or Preferred will have December 31, 2016 as the last day of the 2016 Reward Year with January 1, 2017, the following year, being the brand-new counter for the spending limit on the cash back earned.

As soon as June 30, 2017 hits, you should expect your Rewards Date to go through some changes as well. Nothing foul-play, just makes resetting the rewards date for most of you reaping the Blue Cash Cards more easier to ride along with. Keep in mind that the counter will start automatically after January 1. Seems like things didn’t change for Old Blue Cash holders out there.
