BBVA and it’s beautiful 5X points earning category on NBA American Express® Card the triggered with all purchases made during the all star weekend and two weeks NBA Finals, has taken a turn for the worst.
I’m pretty sure most of us expected such an event to take place just as soon as the $5,000 spending cap per event was integrated, but here’s the outlooks for this once generous card: BBVA will no longer be accepting applications for this 5% card and it’s most likely due to BBVA not being able to reach the profit margin they sought out to accomplish on top of an overwhelming loss of money.

Conclusion:
Tragic news for a once overly-generous card for the consumers as the BBVA NBA American Express® Card will no longer be accepting new applications as 2017 makes it’s grand entrance. Last April, they made it to where you had to apply through ecredable.com/. The option was further removed along the way making it only possible to apply in-branch. I would say the key indicator towards this event’s occurrence would most likely be the spending cap.
Knowingly enough, this card was overly-generous and abused insanely during the 5x triggers. Now, this card will be running into 2017 with the opportunity for current cardholders to take advantage of the 5%, however, prospects on this card is still unknown going into 2018+… NBA could be partnering with another Bank or this card will be cut off, being the shortest lived nation-wide credit card.
