Chase Freedom Third Quarter 5% Cash Back Categories 2018

Those of you waiting for the third quarter will now be able to activate your Chase Freedom® card for 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases from July 1 – September 30, 2018 at gas stations, Lyft, and Walgreens.

With gas stations and Lyft being this quarters category, you can now travel knowing you’re earning as you go! If you are a person that is constantly on the go, you could earn rewards on all your rides.

You must activate this bonus category by September 14, 2018 to earn your 5% bonus cash back.

Chase Freedom Q3 2018 5% Categories

The Chase Freedom will earn you 5% cash back on gas stations, Lyft, and Walgreens spending up to $1,500 in total spending from July 1 to September 30, 2018. However, I do advise that you activate your 5% cash back as soon as possible to be able to reap the category benefits quicker and have further confirmation that you did so.

• Gas Stations – Includes all large and small gas stations.
• Walgreens – Locations will not allow credit card use on variable load visas, or will allow one $500 card. Other purchases are valid.
• Lyft – Cash back on all rides

How to Activate Your Bonus

Each quarter, you must activate your bonus categories. You will be able to activate the next quarter’s bonus categories about 2 weeks before the start of that quarter. Starting June 15th, you will be able to activate your Q3 bonus for this year. Activating your bonus only takes a few clicks.

1. Log on to your online Chase account and select your Chase Freedom® card from the selections at the left-hand side of your screen.
2. If your bonus needs to be activated, you will see “Not Activated” at the right-hand side of the Chase Freedom® dashboard. Click on the blue “Activate” button to continue.
   • View your Chase Freedom® dashboard by selecting the Freedom card at the left of the screen. Then, you can activate your bonus by clicking the blue “Activate” button at the right of your screen.
3. You will see a detailed description of the bonus categories you’re activating. Click on the green “Activate Now” button to complete the activation.

     • Call 1-800-524-8200
     • Chase branch
     • ATM
   • Each quarter has a deadline for activating your bonus. As long as you activate by the deadline, any qualifying purchases from the entire quarter will earn the bonus points.
4. Once your bonus categories are activated, you will see “Activated” in your online dashboard for your Chase Freedom® card.

2018 Bonus Categories

• Q1 January-March: Gas Stations, Internet, Cable, Phone Services, Chase Pay, Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay
• Q2 April-June: Paypal, Chase Pay, Grocery Stores
• Q3 July-September: Gas Stations, Lyft, Walgreens
• Q4 October-December: Department Stores, Wholesale Clubs, Chase Pay

Conclusion

If you’re a current Chase Freedom® cardholder, you will now be able to activate your 5% category for a chance to take advantage of gas stations, Lyft, and Walgreens spending up to $1,500. I’m quite sure that most of you can max out the gas station spending pretty easy on the Freedom, however I can’t necessarily say the same about Walgreens spending.

Remember, the duration of your third quarter 5% category will be from July 1 to September 30, 2018. You have until the 14th day of the third month in the quarter to sign up and earn retroactive rewards for that quarter.
