Style
This is a family-owned hotel, The Hay-Adams comes with a distinct upscale residential vibe. Designer Thomas Pheasant used wood paneling, classy chandeliers, statement curtains, crown moldings, and cozy fireplaces to make a classic look. This is both extravagant and comfortable for you to stay in.
Rooms
Their bright and comfortable guestrooms at the Hay-Adams have an understated elegance, classy furniture, traditional pieces, and great fabrics with a soft color palette. It favors cream, sage, and espresso. The marble bathrooms feature gleaming brass fixtures and Asprey toiletries.
The Hay-Adams provides panda figures that you can put on your bed to let housekeeping know not to change or wash the linens. Additionally, it adds a cute, eco-friendly touch to your room.
Facilities
Even though The Hay-Adams doesn’t offer a spa or pool, the facilities they do have come with luxury touches. The small fitness center comes with modern cardio machines, private TV screens, headphones, complimentary bottles of Fiji water. Plus, the business center comes with a Nespresso machine as well. There are several meeting rooms available, this includes the top-floor space with a private elevator for discretion.
Other perks will include complimentary use of the hotel’s Shinola bikes, chauffeured Tesla service, WiFi throughout the property and morning newspapers of choice.
Food & Drink
The Lafayette Restaurant serves upscale American fare for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The outlet is truly a hidden gem, as we were blown away by the incredible food. Everything we had was divine, especially the pan-seared scallops and the house-made whiskey ice cream.
A local favorite, the stylish Off the Record bar offers creative, politically-themed cocktails, like the Fill A Buster and the Trumpy Sour, surrounded by caricatures of past and present politicians. Drinks here take a bit of time to make, so grab a beer or glass of wine instead if you’re in a rush.
Location
If you’re looking to stay close to the White House, you won’t find a hotel better situated than The Hay-Adams. Which is precisely why high-ranking government officials often stay here. Lafayette Square is just across the street, and we easily got to museums and monuments of the National Mall by bicycles.
