Housed in the old Dearborn Bank Building, the refurbished property plays to the glamorous 1920s era with a sweeping, red-carpeted staircase, the ornate brass elevator doors, and the vintage tin ceiling tiles. However, while the building is historic, the modern details throughout chic lighting, edgy music, and funky decor. It attracts to a more hip and trendy crowd.
Rooms
The 250 rooms, or “Chambers,” at Virgin Hotels Chicago offer a special layout that makes a little bit of sense. The King Bed Chamber opened to a bathroom and vanity area. After walking around the “Dressing Room,” you get to the sleeping area known as the “Sleeping Lounge.” The dressing and sleeping areas are separated by a sliding door. Being an early riser, you’ll be able to spend time in the Dressing Room without disturbing other people with you.
The bathroom comes with a walk-in shower that comes with a rainforest shower head, white subway tiles, red tiles placed sporadically throughout. Other standout design details are included in a funky Stelle Bluetooth speaker, pour-over coffee tools, and a red, Smeg mini fridge. It’s surprising to find that the minibar charges street prices.
Facilities
There’s no spa or pool at Virgin Hotels Chicago. However, there’s a small rooftop fitness center and a library area on the second floor. This will serve as a co-working space during the day. Plus, the highlight of the Virgin Hotels is the 8 dynamic meeting spaces that can be customized to you, for any occasion at any time.
Food & Drink
There are lots of food and drink options at Virgin Hotels Chicago. The Commons Club comes with an internationally-inspired menu which includes carefully-constructed salads along with creative proteins and pasta. Two Zero Three is a Euro-style coffee bar that offers pastries, sandwiches, salads, and coffee. The rooftop lounge Cerise provides well-crafted drinks and culinary creations overlooking the Chicago cityscape.

Virgin Hotels Chicago staff are super friendly and helpful. We caught housekeeping dancing in the hallway, so they seem to enjoy their jobs. Plus, there’s a house Tesla P85D, in shiny red, it will take you anywhere within a 2-mile radius of the hotel. However, the star of the hotel is Lucy, an app companion that can order room service, set the temperature of your room, request toiletries, request a late check-out and more.

Found right in the Loop, Virgin Hotels Chicago is in a prime area for museums, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Plus, it will take around 5 minutes or less to walk to Michigan Avenue, Millenium Park and the Theater District. Lake Michigan is less than a mile away.
