Virgin America Alaska Airlines Merger:
Depending on Bank of America, I assume that existing cardholders will be automatically transferred to the Alaska Airlines Card. Keeping in regards what might happen to your Virgin American Points, you should expect a conversion ratio of 1:1 with a chance that you could get a better ratio than this but it’s safe to say that the minimum would be 1:1. Keep in mind that Virgin America points are worth a fixed value of 2.2¢ when redeeming them for domestic Virgin America flights. Although, it’s safe to say that there’s no real prominent disruption towards the card in general.
Companion Pass:
You’ll receive a discount code for your discounted companion ticketed approximately 6-8 weeks after you first sign up for the card and make your first purchase with it. For every year, the code will arrive 6-8 weeks after paying the annual fee. Keep in mind that the code is only valid for a given year that it was issued. The code can only be used for new, roudn trip tickets purchased directly from Virgin America. You can still use the discount if the base fare is under $150. Additional remaining credit will be deemed as forget and this credit cannot be applied to any award booking. Also, I strongly urge that you book ahead of time minimum of fourteen days in advanced to avoid any set-backs of any kind.
Virgin America Premium VISA Pros:
- $300 Reward Bonus
- Anniversary Bonus
- Travel Discounts and Benefits
- Points don’t expire
Virgin America Premium VISA Cons:

Conclusion:
Take advantage of a 15,000 Bonus Miles promotion when you open a new Virgin America Premium VISA Signature from Comenity. Make a spend of $1,000 within 90 days and you could receive a bonus worth of $300 in rewards redemption. Unfortunately, there is a hefty annual fee attached to this card that is not waived for the first year, but if you’re a frequent Virgin America Flyer with a lot of paid flights in mind then you will definitely make up for the Annual fee. Of course, you have other options like Virgin America’s Visa Signature “Black Card”.
You can also take advantage of SPG point transferable via Virgin America at a 1:1 rate (with a 5,000 bonus if you transfer 20,000). Take into consideration that a Merger with Alaska Airlines is bound to happen in the near future but it doesn’t seem like any drastic changes are taking place, however, I do recommend that you take advantage of every way possible to expand your Elevate Points!
