Style
As soon as you go inside Hotel Alessandra, you’ll be immediately greeted by a dramatic marble staircase. The second-floor lobby emanated understated elegance with stone floors, sepia mirrored walls, mid-century furniture, gilded accents and plenty of art. Renowned Houston-based interior architect and designer Lauren Rottet was responsible for the distinctive space, inspired by a fictional European sophisticate – Alessandra – who falls hard for an oil tycoon. The result was a beautiful fusion of Euro-luxury and modern flair.
Rooms
Sophistication reigns in each one of Hotel Alessandra’s 223 guestrooms, with gorgeous modern decor, premium linens, comfortable lounge seating, generous closet space and thoughtfully-conceived marble bathrooms.
The Premier Corner Room offered floor-to-ceiling windows with fabulous city views. The custom bed was accented with a signature jade monogrammed pillow, matching the corner sofa, while pops of metallic gold added a touch of glam. Modern perks included an in-room tablet, Nespresso machine, complimentary WiFi and a 50-inch television. The bathroom was stunning with an oversized walk-in shower in subway tile and custom toiletries.
Facilities
The fifth floor of the hotel provided multiple ways to destress: an outdoor pool with skyline views, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and Spa by Alessandra. You can get access to the 24-hour business center, complimentary WiFi and on-site bike sharing through BCycle. Fun perks included the Grey Goose bar cart delivered to our room for DIY martinis, and the hotel’s Maserati car service for complimentary transportation within the downtown area.
Food & Drink
Lucienne served upscale Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a funky and futuristic atmosphere. Go for the dinner tasting menu here and be blown away by Executive Chef Jose Hernandez‘s French technique and one-of-a-kind spin on continental European dishes.
Bar Bardot was the place to be with a good-looking crowd sipping on champagne cocktails and whisky flights late into the night. Small bites like lobster fondue and crisp-fried frog legs accompany the bar’s handcrafted cocktails.
Service
The staff at Hotel Alessandra was warm, helpful and easy-going. The butler made conversation with us as he showed us to our room. When you are getting ready to go out, room service will bring you a bottle of wine and a cheese plate. Every time you return to the hotel, the staff by the door greets you.
Location
Hotel Alessandra was conveniently located in the pedestrian-friendly GreenStreet development in Downtown, just four blocks from the Toyota Center and the George R. Brown Convention Center. Discovery Green, a 12-acre urban park, was also within walking distance. Houston Zoo, Hermann Park and the Houston Museum District were all easily accessible using the METRORail.
Address: 1070 Dallas Street, Houston
Conclusion
Hotel Alessandra is a great choice for people who are well-traveled and the business-savvy who like the beautiful simplicity and proximity to downtown Houston destinations. With the amazing amenities and aesthetic, you’ll be temped to stay here another night.
However, if you want a big hotel brand, consider the JW Marriott. This is another downtown property that’s within the area’s main attractions.
