Point values vary by redemption method. Merchandise is generally worth $0.01 per point and statement credits worth $0.006 per point.
Earning & Redeeming Membership Rewards Points
It’s easy to earn points on the Blue Business Plus. You’ll earn 2 points for every dollar you spend, up to $50,000 annually. Afterwards, this will drop down to 1X.
There are no bonus categories you need to keep track of, perfect for those who want to keep up with just one card. However, that also means that you may be forgoing rewards on certain purchases if you don’t get another card to cover it.
Membership Rewards points earned with the Blue Business Plus are the same as those earned with cards like the Business Platinum Card and can be transferred to Amex’s hotel and airline travel partners. You’ll get the most value from your MR points by transferring them to a travel partner.
Nonetheless, you can also use points toward cash back, Amazon purchases, Uber rides, gift cards, and more. Though, point values will vary with these methods, and you’ll generally earn less value.
Although the Blue Business Plus is a no-annual-fee card, it offers several benefits that small businesses may find highly valuable:
- Expanded Buying Power: Spend beyond your credit limit to help pay for larger purchases, only with the Blue Business Plus. You must pay the additional spending in full by your due date. However, the amount up to your credit limit can be carried from month to month. Though, this doesn’t mean that Amex will grant you unlimited spending power. The amount adjusts based on a variety of factors, including your use of the card, payment history and credit history.
- Free Employee Cards: Get up to 99 employee cards for free. Amex makes it easy to rack up rewards through your employees’ spending.
Cardholders also enjoy Amex’s insurance protections, like extended warranties, purchase protection, baggage insurance and secondary car rental insurance.
With the Blue BusinessSM Plus Credit Card from American Express, you can start earning bonus points on your business expenses. This card is exceptionally for smaller-small business owners considering the lengthy 0% APR period on purchases for the first 15 months of account opening (See Rates & Fees), necessary for you to make larger purchases.
On that note, this card functions like a hybrid credit-charge card. That means, you can spend beyond your credit limits as long as you pay off that extra amount in full during the next statement period. If you’re still looking for other deals, you can find our complete list of credit card bonuses from our exclusive list!
