In honor of the properties 100th anniversary, the Farimont underwent more than $20 million in restoration and renovation. This results in a paring of the original, old-world glamour decor with modern comforts and lavish eatery and bars.

Style
Housed in a landmark, limestone Beaux Arts building, the Fairmont boasts a commanding exterior, and the interior is just as spectacular. The grand lobby features Italian marble columns, which support high coffered ceilings where glittering chandeliers hang. The ornate woodwork, mosaic tile flooring, intricate murals and gilded mirrors are all beautifully preserved. Look closely, and you might notice a double “P” insignia throughout the hotel on doorknobs and more, a remnant from when the property was the Plaza Hotel.
Rooms
All 383 rooms and suites at the Fairmont are individually-decorated in a modern-classic style with mahogany dressers, headboards and desks to match. Our 250-square-foot Fairmont Gold Room was furnished with a King pillowtop mattress, luxury linens, geometric-patterned carpeting, a Nespresso coffee maker and custom black-and-white sketches of Boston for a contemporary touch. The marbled bathroom featured rain showers, plush terry cotton robes and Le Labo amenities.
Because we were Fairmont Gold club guests, we received dedicated concierge service, complimentary WiFi, daily breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres and access to a private club lounge as well as a private reception area.
People who live in Massachusetts get extra bonuses like: one-level room upgrade or 15% discount off the best available rate of the day. Just show your drivers license when you check in.
Facilities
The Fairmont Copley Plaza is home to a 3,000-square-foot rooftop fitness center that’s open 24 hours and offers magnificent views of Back Bay. Ballrooms and meeting rooms are available for conferences, weddings and special events. And although there’s no in-house spa, a special partnership with Zeel allows you to have a massage right in your room.
Food & Drink
OAK Long Bar + Kitchen is a gorgeous space, with a grand bar, fireplaces, giant arched windows and beautiful plaster work on the vaulted ceilings. The menu features modern American cuisine made with local ingredients. Standouts include deliciously-charred flatbreads and burgers, as well as local oysters and a deconstructed Boston Cream Pie. Wash it all down with one of the restaurant’s carefully-crafted martinis, or order a bottle from the extensive wine list. OAK Long Bar + Kitchen serves an elegant breakfast buffet and a popular Sunday brunch as well.
The hotel also operates the secretive 140 Supper Club, a private dinner series by lauded Chef Laurent Poulain. Ask the concierge, and they’ll add you to the list.
Service
Service at the Fairmont Copley Plaza was delightful. The warm and helpful concierge team was adept at making recommendations. The liveried doormen not only added a touch of old-school class, but offered local tips as well. And we were particularly fond of Cori Copley, the hotel’s canine ambassador.
