How GIG Car Share Works
GIG means “Get In, Go.” Using this app will allow you to book a rental car and unlock it fast and simple. Below are some step-by-step instructions on how to use it.
- Download the GIG app to see available cars in the HomeZone, then see an approved zone to pick up and drop off the GIG cars. You can even walk to a GIG car on the street. If you can see that their windshield light is flashing green then it means that car is available.
- After you reserve a car, you’ll then have 30 minutes to unlock it before it’s reopened to other GIG users.
- Unlock your car with a click on your phone. Once your first trip is over, you will receive a GIG Card in your mail. That card has a special RFID chip that will enable you to unlock the GIG cars.
- Thoroughly look over your car and let them know if you see any dings, dents, or damage that’s been made in the app.
- Get in, and go. There won’t be a key required. All you have to do is press the brake and push the “Power” button to start driving. You are able to go anywhere you wish to as long as its within the U.S. If you wish to make a stop without giving the car up then just pick the “Stopover” option in their app.
- Then give the car back to an approved GIG parking space in a HomeZone.
