How to Perform the Shopping Cart Trick
- Go online to the store's website for the card you want.
- Register for their website or loyalty program. You will want to provide your personal information. Providing your address is a must because it allows them to send promotions to your address.
- Add a couple of items to your shopping cart.
- Continue the check-out process until you reach the final page. If you have not received an offer, then you will have try again or try another website. Again, you do not have to purchase anything. The process of going to the final checkout page increases your chance of an offer to pop up.
- Accept the offer and complete the application.
Note: Be sure to enter the same information that is on your credit report when you're applying for the credit card. If they cannot verify your identity, then you will not be eligible for the card.
Benefits of the Shopping Cart Trick
- Bonuses - Different credit cards have different bonuses - some may be cash back while others may be related to the partnered store. Be sure to read the full details of the benefits!
- Helps Build Your Credit Score - If your credit score is bad, this trick will allow you to rebuild your credit. Because these cards aren't a hard pull against your credit, they will not be able to see any bankruptcies or items that negatively affect your credit. If a borrower can show that he or she can pay off money even with bad credit, then the lender will be more inclined to loan money to them.
- Able to Request a Higher Credit Limit - These types of credit cards typically have a lower credit limit around the $500 mark. After receiving your card, you can request for a higher limit for your spending needs.
Conclusion
If you are looking to increase your credit score or get more deals from stores, then the Shopping Cart Trick is the one trick for you. It's a fairly simple process to perform and a great way to earn some extra cash in your pocket. Just remember to follow the key qualifications in order for you to receive those great credit card offers.

I was able to get Ann Taylor, Boscov, Simply B, Maristoa , and Express . Nothing else worked for me. I entered the 0’s and last four of my ssn for Victoria Secret and it said under review. I have given up.
boscovs does cli monthly good one to have! started at 1500 up to 4500 a cple months later.. first increase when i rec’d card in mail that day and every statement after
I tried so many time with Victoria secret New York and company different one i can’t get it to work for me.
Remember if you are not opted in with the credit bureaus it will not work, also not on mobile devices, tablets, and iPads ( well one of them worked on iPad, but not VS) when you opt in, it takes a couple of weeks to kick in…… Also any fraud protection may possibly stop this too, I’m having a problem getting the Wife a couple of cards because of a love she has up.
Hopefully this helps. If all else fails, try a new browser.
Been Successful with Game Stop, Overstock, and Victoria Secret
Was at 575 when I got those 3-4 months ago
At 610 now…..
Happy hunting
Do you have to sign up for gamestop or can I check out as a guest?
FYI- Ulta has a credit card program just like Forever 21. It’s through Comenity Capital Bank & it has a store card & a rewards MasterCard…
I finally go it with Sportsman and when I entered my info last 4 it still said they are processing my application and I will rec a letter in 7-10 business days. anyone else have this happen??
this happened to me because my screen timed out. i went back in and did it again and it went through.
I have been able to get NY&C, Express and Boscovs to work with the pop-up. Couldn’t get Victorias Secret to work and I wanted that one. Applied through the application and used all zeros except the last 4 digits of my SS#. It worked and I was approved! No hard pull!
I have been working on rebuilding my credit and need the credit lines. I won’t use the cards but read to make a $1 payment on them each month to build a payment history. Doesn’t hurt to try! And if I do use them, it will be well under 30% of the CL.
Tempted to try the Forever 21 or Sportsman Guide Visa but don’t want to push it!
i cant seem to get Forever 21 to work. Please reply back here if you get it to work!
I tried Forever 21. with the zero’s and last 4 of SS. Is under review. 10 day notice.
Not only did putting all 00’s in for my ssn except the last 4 for forever 21 worked i also crossed my fingers and did it for new york and co. It worked! Ahh thats awesome but thats the end for my credit cards. Dont want to over due and end up in same boat like i was years ago! BTW my credit score is 607 and moving up! A year ago i was at 450ish!
How long ago did you do that? And you haven’t seen any hard pulls on your credit at all yet from that?
I jist did the new york & co today and forever 21 yesterday.. i have not seen a hard pull on my credit karma report yet. HOPING it doesnt but I will post in a few days again.
So how’d you do it? Did you go through the whole process? For instance, adding things to the shopping cart?
I went to there actual credit application and applied using the 0’s and only last 4. I did have things in my cart as well though and was logged in.
When I did it for VS, I went to the application. Not signed in or nothing in my cart. Used all zeros and the last 4 of SS #. Nothing has shown up on credit report and it tends to show up right away. I was in a private browser and cleared history.
Just wondering if you had a hardpull yet from Forever 21 show up on your credit?
I also just did VS with zeros before my last 4 digits of social. Was approved, just hope it doesnt show a HP! I am dying for the Ulta card!! If anyone gets a card without a HP let me know!!!
Had the alert from Identity Guard this morning, VS and Ulta did hard pulls 🙁 No more apps for me!
Ya i thought I was in the clear too but i just got the alert as well…. urggh
Dont be too frightened, I thought it got me too, but it fell off after about a month…
I went for the F21 card with all zeros except the last 4 and got an alert immediately lol. I was approved for the Visa branded card, so it’s not that bad, I guess. I will see if it falls off like Tre DeTayle said.
It has been a few months since you app’. Did you see the inquiry fall off of your credit report?
Today I noticed that Equifax dropped the VS inquiry. Now I’m waiting to see if Coldwater Creek will fall off. Crossing my fingers. Score is still in good standing even with the 15 point drop.
FYI- I was at the mall this weekend & I see that Forever 21 now has a store credit card & a Forever 21 Visa credit card both are through Comenity Capital Bank…
I was just online on my phone and checked out forever 21, well i signed up and then went to there credit card application. (Not a pop up) I put all 000’s for my ssn except the last 4 surprise i was approved , I only got $250 but really didnt even need my full SSN.
Was this for their Visa or the Forever 21 store card?
I said i was interested in the visa when it asked. Not sure though which one i got! Ill post once i get the card.
I tried F21 a couple of days ago doing using the 0’s for everything but my last 4 and it didn’t work. I too scary to try it again lol. Congrats tho
I know it’s been a little while since you applied for the Forever21 card but did you happen to notice a hard pull on your credit after you applied? I want to try with all 0’s and last 4 of ssn but still want a little feedback on it.
Anyone tried the Total Rewards Card?
It ask me to put in my full ssn but i definitely don’t want a hard pull.
Thanks
Can’t get hsn to work to save my life. I got many others to work though.
Vs 500
Overstock 3000
Pb 2000
Way fair 3000
Sportsman 2500
Bryl home 700
Bon ton 1500
I have been trying about 2 months to get the Overstock one go as far as putting in my entire credit card number to pay for it and it still won’t pop up neither will the brylanehome or Wayfair and those are actually places that I shop
Just got wayfair. Whopping 500. Wtf. Seems like alot of others get 1000 or more. Hmmm. Wonder if it is because I did 4 cards now in short time
Just finally got wayfair to work. I can believe they only gave 500. I have fair credit with never any late payments and always pay much more then the minimum payment a lot of stuff on that website that I would even think about buying is rather expensive all the other cards that work in the shopping cart trick gave me a thousand I guess that’s kind of weird
how did you get overstock to work? Do I put in my cc info?
be careful. Commenity, canceled all of my cards. because i opened too many. I know it’s exciting getting cards. just don’t go overboard
question, did you use any of the cards?
Did thy cancel them after you got them in the mail? I haven’t read where this happened to anyone else.
I have had quite a few of them for pushing a year and never had any canceled. I always pay them the day my statement cycles out to me for the next month so I pay 2-3 weeks before it’s due.
Most of you fools are only going to worsen your credit credit score when you ultimately screw these companies over and when you do, there will be no one left who will give you credit.
For those of you who want to improve your credit score, do not mass apply for cards as some of these idiots are doing. Only apply for 2 or 3 credit cards that you can actually use and no more (do not get greedy).
This will allow you to build a stable credit history without the risk of overextending yourself. Credit agencies will lower credit score if you apply for too many.
Every card you get there will be an expectation of use from these companies and companies are now canceling cards for non-use, hurting credit scores.
If you have too many cards and try to use them all so they don’t get canceled, you will dig yourself into a hole that will eventually ruin your credit. So be wise and responsbile when applying for credit cards.
Calling people fools and making assumptions about them is not needed. Opening a few accounts with no hard pull can actually help your debt ratio.
Did I say a trigger word? I don’t apologize for speaking the truth. Credit is too important for people to be led down the wrong path.
What isn’t needed is people like yourself who give misguided advice to people working hard to rebuild their credit, advice that will in reality destroy their credit. There are a finite numbers of chances a person has to rebuild there credit, they only have so many 7 year periods to wait for bad credit to fall off.
Debt ratio? I think you mean credit utilization, the percentage of available credit that has been borrowed. The problem is, there’s another very important factor and that is the effect of “new credit”. Opening up too many accounts over short period of time can lower a score considerably, as it suggests financial trouble and irresponsiblity.
The best best way to rebuild credit is to do it responsibility and never over extend oneself by having too much available credit. You do that by limiting yourself to a few (2 or 3) cards you can actually use the first year, making every payment on time. Never allowing debt utilization to exceed 30% for each card.
After the first year if a person thinks they need another card, that’s fine. Restraint is what is needed to rebuild credit, not irresponsible advice that leads to irresponsible credit practices and applying enmass for a bunch of credit cards is a fools game that almost always leads to disaster.
You can pass along information without calling people fools was my point. People like you are just big mouth bully’s that like to tell everyone else what to do. And no, there were no trigger words for me. You once again made a wrong assumption.
You obviously don’t understand that for most of us on this thread, we can’t get credit any other way, and this is a way to START rebuilding our credit. The only positive credit on my report until I found this thread was my 3 month old auto loan, so opening new lines isn’t hurting my average age of credit. My negative marks are collections accounts that will be falling off in the next year or 2. No bank will offer me a traditional card. I have gotten 5 of these cards, and my score has gone up almost 100 points on credit karma in a month. At this point, everything is new and all my credit is the same age, so even if some accounts get closed for non-use, by that time I will have responsibly used and paid on the others and should receive cli’s so it won’t hurt my utilization or the average age of credit. These are acquired without a hard inquiry, so I am not hurt there, either. That’s what this article is about. While some people might go overboard and acquire and max out those accounts, most of us have learned the hard way what not to do, and this gives us a second chance to rebuild.
I agree one must be wise about credit. And discipline is the key. And it is good to know that applying for numerous cards can harm your credit. But you can provide advise without calling someone names. I would have taken you just as serious. Just saying…
I got a Pottery Barn and West Elm card each with a $2000.00 limit on the same day using this trick. My scores are in the 650-660 range. I did checkout as a guest also. Took the cards, but did not buy a thing.
