How to Perform the Shopping Cart Trick
- Go online to the store's website for the card you want.
- Register for their website or loyalty program. You will want to provide your personal information. Providing your address is a must because it allows them to send promotions to your address.
- Add a couple of items to your shopping cart.
- Continue the check-out process until you reach the final page. If you have not received an offer, then you will have try again or try another website. Again, you do not have to purchase anything. The process of going to the final checkout page increases your chance of an offer to pop up.
- Accept the offer and complete the application.
Note: Be sure to enter the same information that is on your credit report when you're applying for the credit card. If they cannot verify your identity, then you will not be eligible for the card.
Benefits of the Shopping Cart Trick
- Bonuses - Different credit cards have different bonuses - some may be cash back while others may be related to the partnered store. Be sure to read the full details of the benefits!
- Helps Build Your Credit Score - If your credit score is bad, this trick will allow you to rebuild your credit. Because these cards aren't a hard pull against your credit, they will not be able to see any bankruptcies or items that negatively affect your credit. If a borrower can show that he or she can pay off money even with bad credit, then the lender will be more inclined to loan money to them.
- Able to Request a Higher Credit Limit - These types of credit cards typically have a lower credit limit around the $500 mark. After receiving your card, you can request for a higher limit for your spending needs.
Conclusion
If you are looking to increase your credit score or get more deals from stores, then the Shopping Cart Trick is the one trick for you. It's a fairly simple process to perform and a great way to earn some extra cash in your pocket. Just remember to follow the key qualifications in order for you to receive those great credit card offers.

i have been trying but have not been successful yet what are the easiest stores or banks to try
How is everyone doing with the SCT? Any new sites that you found you can do it to? Does The Childrens Place do a HP or SP?
Yes I just did it a week again and got approved I checked all 3 accounts to confirm I didnt get a hit on my report
Soft. 500 CL
Anyone been able to have the ulta SCT work/
Hello, I heard on the local news station that Carson’s Department Stores will close all stores in Michigan. Will Boscov’s, Bon Ton Stores close also?
Maybe the online stores will stay up and running. Bummer.
Got approval pop up for Arhaus furniture. Website says pending
Any idea why? Will we get card in mail
When you all say type it exactly as your Credit Report says is this case sensitive too? All my stuff is in capital letters does that matter or not? I haven’t had any luck I’ve tried VS, Overstock, and a few others. I’ve tried on my laptop and my iPhone I’ve been in private mode and everything. Any advice? Pretty discouraged.
To answer your question: Just the information need duplicating. The spelling of your name, address on the report(s), birthday, etc.
Yes, it is generally helpful to try all caps and all variations of your name found on your credit report. Errors can be fixed with a phone call after the card is received. You may be delayed for review, but that doesn’t usually mean a denial. Some people have gotten approvals using variations of their name such as LLarryD Smith, instead of Larry D Smith, or Smith LarryD. All caps. I got Improvements using my last name first, no middle initial. I got Williams Sonoma by replacing the “ei” in my first name (Deidra) with “eu.” Keep in mind that your LexisNexis and Innovis reports may also be a factor. Many of us will have difficulty getting certain cards with credit scores under 630-650, though for some of us, score hasn’t been a large factor in our approvals.
Boscovs worked for me first try. I put $79.99 in my cart. as soon as i selected pay with credit card i got the popup. $1,000 CL.
I just got a pop-up on Kohls website. I went incognito and did put in my own visa card info as if I was going to pay. I then hit review order and it popped up. $300 CL but I know a few other ppl whom did not do the SCT and got the same starting limit.
I had the same credit limit when I first got approved. After six months, I asked for an increase and got an extra $400.
I have credit limits of $1500+ with major retailers and credit card companies with credit scores of around 700. Kohl’s has for 2 years since I opened them kept me at $300 lol. I keep my account active monthly, I have a 100% on time activity for paying all my bills on time for the last 6 years plus. They just flat out refuse to go above $300. At this point it’s become comical and worth the coupons.
Kohls has done the same to me. My mother, who admittedly shops there more frequently, got a $1k increase after 8 months. I buy and pay off, she carries a balance. I don’t get it. What an annoying card!
I finally got HSN to work!! Got approved for $800 and it was a soft pull.
