How To Earn The $1,000 Bonus
- Open or upgrade to a new Sapphire Banking relationship and transfer a minimum of $75,000 in new qualifying deposits and/or investments to Chase
- Deposit funds into the account within 45 days and maintain that balance for at least 90 days

How Do I Apply?
Whether you apply online or in branch, you’ll need to provide the following info to open an account:
- Date of birth
- Government-issued ID
- Social security number — or passport for foreign applicants
- Income information
You can open a Chase Sapphire Checking account online or at a local Chase branch. If you choose to open an account in person, make sure to bring your government-issued ID and a second form of identification. Follow these steps to apply online:
- Visit the Chase website and click Checking accounts.
- Click Open now under Chase Sapphire Checking.
- Fill in your personal information including your name, address and Social Security number, then click Next.
- Once your application is complete, you’ll need to fund the account.
- After your initial deposit has been made, you can submit your application.

- Bill pay – You can use online bill pay to make one-time or recurring payments for free if you make it the primary account for online bill payment.
- Monthly service fee – The Chase Sapphire Checking account comes with a $25 monthly service fee, which can be waived if you have an average beginning day balance of at least $75,000 in this account and linked qualifying checking, savings and investment accounts.
- Insufficient funds fees – You’re allowed four fee-free insufficient funds or returned item occurrences every year. After that, you’ll be charged $34 for each debit card purchase that overdraws your account — with a maximum of three per day. This fee doesn’t apply if:
- Your account balance at the end of the business day is overdrawn by $5 or less.
- The transaction was for $5 or less, even if your end-of-day balance is overdrawn.
- You made a withdrawal at an ATM.
- Limited availability – Although Chase has nearly 5,000 branches, it only operates in 28 states and Washington, DC.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card offers 100,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's $1,250 when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
