No hard credit pull, but they do pull ChexSystems. My recommendations for those new to Redstone Credit Union:
1. To become eligible for a Redstone FCU account, you can join the Financial Fitness Association. Join for $8.
Or, if you have joined another credit union like First Tech, you can contact the FFA and have them email you confirmation you are already a member.
2. See the Redstone website for details on the promotion. (Good idea to screenshot this page before proceeding.) Click “Open Online”.
3. On the Eligibility page, select “I am member of: Associational group” and scroll/select “Financial Fitness Association- San Francisco CA”.
4. Primary Savings is auto selected & required. Be sure to add a Checking account to your application. Click add product on either the Easy Checking ($3/mo) or Rewards Checking ($8/mo) as they are the easiest to keep fee free (4 debits or 1 DD each month to avoid the monthly fee).
There will be several anti-fraud screening questions asking how you plan to use the account and at the bottom, a “Promotional Code” box. Paste code BAU857910 here. There is another box for Promotional Code is on the last page of the application as well.
5. $2530 Credit card funding is available per application. Visa, MasterCard, & Discover accepted.
6. You will either sign e-documents as part of the application, or later via e-mail DocuSign links. Be sure to write down your member number! It will enable you to sign-up for online banking and get your own referral code. You may have to wait overnight before being able to enroll in online banking.
7. Your own referral code will appear on the right-hand column of Redstone online banking. You do have a tracker to see how many people have used your code. It usually updates overnight after the referred person gets approved. There is a limit of five referrals per promo.
8. Debit card typically takes over a week to arrive. Some have noticed an invisible hold on funds, per terms, which takes up to 10 business days (2 weeks). Do not attempt to set up ACH transfers/bill pays from other banks until that hold has cleared. The easiest way to verify if a hold still exists would be to use the debit card. Don’t forget to use your debit card five times within 30 days. Amazon reloads or paying bills online using your RFCU debit count for POS debits.
Once you have a Redstone account, you can open a Brighter Day, Christmas, or You Name It Savings account(s) by submitting additional applications via online banking for additional CC funding, and no monthly fee. Menu: Additional Services > Open Additional Accounts
I can confirm this is available nationwide. I was approved in CA by using my Financial Fitness Association membership. They are not Chex inquiry sensitive and allow $2530 in credit card funding per application.
There is a limit of five referrals. Once you have your online banking access, you can see the tracker and your code.
The Easy Checking account is $3 month, but the fee is waived if you have a Direct Deposit, or just 4 debits.
